Tagua noten
Tagua noten zijn afkomstig van de ivoorpalm (Phytelphas aequatorialis) die als groeigebied midden - en zuid amerika heeft. De ivoorpalm wordt ook olifantsplant of taguaboom genoemd.
Tagua noten staan ook wel bekend als "vegetarisch ivoor". De structuur van dit materiaal lijkt namelijk erg op ivoor (van olifant) en het kan ook vergelijkbaar worden bewerkt tot bijvoorbeeld schaakstukken.
